Privacy statement

Plain-language information about how Garkazi Care handles personal information.

What we collect

We collect only the information we need to respond to you and to provide safe, appropriate support. That can include your name, contact details, the nature of your enquiry, and — where you choose to share it — information about support needs, family circumstances or cultural identity.

Please do not send detailed sensitive information through our website forms. We will arrange a secure way to talk with you.

How we use it

Information is used to respond to enquiries and referrals, to plan and deliver support, to meet legal and safeguarding obligations, and to improve our services.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.

Consent

Where consent is required, we ask for it clearly and in plain language. You can withdraw consent at any time, although this may affect the support we are able to provide.

Where a referral is made on someone's behalf, we expect the referrer to have consent or lawful authority.

Sharing information

We share information only where you have consented, where it is necessary to deliver a service you have asked for, or where the law requires it — including mandatory reporting and situations where someone may be at risk of harm.

Storage and security

Records are stored securely with access limited to staff who need it for their role. Staff are trained in confidentiality and information handling.

Access and correction

You can ask what information we hold about you, request a copy, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. We will explain if there is a legal reason we cannot provide something.

Cultural information

Cultural identity, family and community information is treated with particular care. It is recorded only with consent and used to support cultural connection and appropriate service planning.

Concerns about privacy

If you are concerned about how your information has been handled, you can raise it with us through our complaints and feedback process. You will not be disadvantaged for raising a concern.

Under review

This statement is written in plain language for website visitors. It will be reviewed and finalised alongside Garkazi Care's full privacy policy and applicable Queensland and Commonwealth requirements.

Emergencies

If someone is in immediate danger, call 000. Child-safety concerns should be reported through the appropriate Queensland Government reporting channel.
